About This Concert

- A Phoenix Phirst: We're giving our premier performance at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum's astounding Calderwood Hall. Calderwood is a unique space where the orchestra will literally be surrounded on all sides by the audience, with balconies going up four stories.

- Boston icon and flutist extraordinaire Paula Robison joins us to celebrate the centennial of Leonard Bernstein's birth with a spellbinding performance of Halil, a concerto for flute and orchestra written in memory of flutist Yadin Tanenbaum, who was killed during the Yom Kippur war.

- Aaron Copland's majestic Appalachian Spring caps off a program featuring composers George Walker, Tania Leon, and Missy Mazzoli, exploring the full breadth of America's musical output.
